Las Vegas rock bands the Killers and Imagine Dragons will headline the inaugural TC Summer Fest, set for July 14 and 15 at Target Field.
Tickets for the festival-style concert series, staged by the Minnesota Twins and a promotion company, are priced from $239 to $39, or $406 to $66 for both days, and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday via twins.com/tcsummerfest.
The Killers emerged in 2004 with the album “Hot Fuss,” a worldwide hit that topped seven million in sales. Their debut single “Mr. Brightside” went double platinum and they’ve since returned to the charts with a string of hits that include “Somebody Told Me,” “When You Were Young,” “Read My Mind,” “Human,” “Spaceman,” “Runaways,” “The Man,” “Run for Cover,” “Caution” and “My Own Soul’s Warning.”
In March 2020, the band announced a massive worldwide tour just days before the pandemic-related lockdown. They canceled the tour dates, but did release their sixth album, “Imploding the Mirage,” that August. They went on to issue another record, “Pressure Machine,” in 2021 and returned to the road the following year. They drew more than 10,000 fans to St. Paul’s Xcel Energy Center that September.
Imagine Dragons
Lead singer Dan Reynolds founded Imagine Dragons while he was a student at Brigham Young University. Imagine Dragons built a strong following in Utah before relocating to Las Vegas, where they self-released a trio of EPs that attracted the attention of Interscope Records, which signed the group in 2011.
The band’s debut single, “It’s Time,” was a hit, but it was the Grammy-winning follow-up “Radioactive” that broke Imagine Dragons to the masses in the U.S. and around the world. The group’s first two albums sold more than three million copies combined and they returned to the charts with “Demons,” “On Top of the World,” “Sucker for Pain,” “Believer” and “Thunder.”
More recently, Imagine Dragons released the double album “Mercury – Acts 1 and 2” in two parts, in 2021 and 2022. They recorded the 32 tracks with a series of producers including Rick Rubin, who is known for his work with the Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Johnny Cash and Rage Against the Machine. About 14,000 fans attended their most recent local show, in February 2022 at Target Center.
