Plot Summary
You & Me & Me is about identical teenage twin sisters Yu and Mi. The story is set in 1999 when the world was dealing with the Y2K scare. Twins Yu and Mi are also scared and worried about their future. They have a tight, special and loving bond and are each other’s best friends. So how does one differentiate between them? Well, Mi has a Mole on her left cheek, and Yu doesn’t.
The twin bond is tested when a guy named Mark enters their life. Both Yu and Mi like Mark. They even do twin-swapping to see if Mark can differentiate between the two. The love between the twins gets replaced by insecurity, jealousy, and fear of losing the special bond and even the boy. How will they find a way out of it? We find it out in the end.
You and Me and Me Review: Discussion
There have been several movies and shows about identical twin brothers/sisters falling in love with the same person. Sometimes, these stories take a dark turn. You & Me & Me on Netflix also has the same love triangle dynamic. But what makes it such a heartwarming watch is its focus on the sisters’ bond instead of just the love story.
When Mark entered Yu and Mi’s life, I enjoyed watching his bond grow with one of the twins. The swapping game and the lies did worry me. But I instantly felt good whenever I saw Yu and Mi being each other’s best friends and living life like there’s no tomorrow. I couldn’t stop smiling when I saw them sharing food, dancing together, being worried when one of them got their first period, their Y2K theories and their love for each other.

One would wonder why a love triangle movie would have a lengthy runtime of 121 minutes. Even I wondered the same when I started watching the movie. However, the more I got involved in Yu and Mi’s world, the more I realised that Mark isn’t the only conflict in their lives. They don’t have an ideal happy family. Their father is mostly away, and their mother is usually unhappy, so all they have is each other.
Towards the end, it is established how Mark served as a realisation that even though they’ve made a promise to always be by each other’s side, life will always have its plan. When their parents make a big decision, Yu and Mi have to come to terms with the realities of life. Ultimately, even the Y2K fear didn’t scare them off.
Actor Baipor Thitiya Jirapornsilp has played the roles of both Yu and Mi. I wasn’t aware that both the characters were played by the same actor until I researched the star cast. I really thought they were identical twin actors. Thitiya has done a commendable job throughout and easily helps you distinguish who’s who, even without the mole. Tony Anthony Buisseret as Mark is also quite pleasant. Even though Mark is the reason for the dispute between the sisters, he can’t be blamed. Anthony charms you with his presence and chemistry with Thitiya.
Netflix’s You and Me and Me Review: Final Thoughts
Overall, the Thai film You & Me & Me is not the typical twin love triangle drama we’ve seen often. The movie is a sweet tale of twin sister love that also brings some trouble. Yet, the sister bond overpowers the romantic tale. It’s a movie for siblings who are like best friends, with a bittersweet ending.
The movie is now streaming on Netflix.
