
Sevatopol’s softball team defeated Gibraltar/Washington Island in Saturday’s Packerland Conference doubleheader at Institute in a pair of three-inning games.
The Pioneers won game one, 18-0.
Winning pitcher Addison Schauske recorded a no-hitter with six strikeouts.
At the plate for the Pioneers, Bailey Rikkola batted 2-2, with 2 RBI and three runs. Naomi Rikkola homered with 3 RBI and scored three runs. Claire Haberli doubled with 3 RBI and two runs scored. Johanna Andreae also doubled with two runs scored. Sienna Cain tripled.
Sevastopol won game two, 25-0.
Winning pitcher Libby Ash tossed a no-hitter with four strikeouts.
The Pioneers ended up with 18 hits. Haberli and Bailey Rikkola both had three hits with each tallying two doubles. Naomi Rikkola, Jolene Luedtke and Schauske each added two hits.
Up next for Sevastopol, which improved to 7-0 overall and 3-0 in league play, is the resumption of the second game of the April 11 doubleheader at Southern Door now set for Tuesday.
The Eagles – which lost the first game 11-7 against the Pioneers in eight innings, but led 10-4 in the fifth inning of the second game when it was suspended because of darkness – are now 1-2 in the Packerland after splitting a doubleheader Saturday at Algoma.
In other league softball action Saturday, Sturgeon Bay fell in both games of a doubleheader at Oconto. The Clippers are now 0-4 in the Packerland.
