This fiesta will have all the ingredients needed for a Saturday party filled with food and music.
The Fiesta De Taco is a one-day hip-hop and taco party that returns to SilverLakes Sports Complex in Norco on Saturday, May 13.
It’ll feature several hip-hop artists plus more than a dozen taco vendors slinging everything from traditional street tacos to barbecue and fusion dishes.
There’s also high-flying wrestling action, a car show and, yes, tequila.
“It’s just a great fun party and it’s tacos and hip-hop, I mean who doesn’t love that? It’s just a great combination,” said Steve Thacher, president of Activated Events, the festival organizers.
Here’s what you need to know about the Fiesta De Taco.
The Fiesta will include a who’s who lineup of well known rappers and hip-hop artists who will set the right party tone for the Fiesta.
The festival will be headlined by Flo Rida, who is returning to Norco after his recent appearance at Boots in the Park.
The Florida rapper, who has more than 27 million monthly subscribers on Spotify, will fit right in with the party atmosphere thanks to his blend of feel-good rap and hip-hop that earned him a reputation as the life of the party wherever he performs.
“He has a ton on energy and anyone who hears a Flo Rida song who may not even know it’s a Flo Rida song at first will instantly recognize it as a Flo Rida song,” Thacher said.
Before the Flo Rida show people will see sets from fellow Florida rapper T-Pain as well as 2 Chainz, Lil Jon, Ying Yang Twins, O.T. Genasis and DJ Luwiss Lux.
“They are all just great hip-hop acts and party acts so it just adds to an all around fun day of great music,” Thacher said.
Because tacos go perfectly with just about everything, they’ll be co-headlining the festival with a lineup of more than a dozen vendors.
“We got a little bit of everything for everyone,” Thatcher said.
The taco list was still being ironed out about a week before the festival but some of the highlights so far include Tacos Before Vatos, who are regulars at several music event serving things like chicken and steak tacos as well as carne asada fries.
Also on hand will be Morning Wood BBQ, which is making special barbecue tacos just for the show and those who like traditional tacos and Aguas Frescas will want to check out Taqueria Mi Nana Galvan.
Other food vendors include Masa’tlan Kitchen, which specializes in dishes from Mazatlan, Mexico, plus the Puzzle Kitchen food truck, which makes street tacos as well as ribeye, shrimp and filet mignon tacos.
And to wash down the tacos there will be tequila sampling spots, margaritas, micheladas, hard seltzers and, of course, beers.
The supporting acts
As tacos get devoured and while artists take a break between musical sets the luchadores will be flying high in the air busting all sorts of acrobatic and theatrical moves at the Lucha Libre wrestling ring.
“The live matches will be going on throughout the day and this thing is high-flying. And as the music builds up so do the wrestlers, these guys are flying off the top rope and throwing each other around,” he said.
Car lovers will also have something to do between eating and the music since there is a car show on site featuring about 20 Chevy Impalas with original pristine vehicles and souped-up low riders to view.
